Theresa Troise Heidel
“My inspiration for my art comes mainly from the play of light and shadow. A unique play of light can make the humblest subject beautiful. I strive to capture such fleeting moments with the medium of watercolor. Its capricious nature lends itself to spontaneous expression with thin, luminous glazes and rich, velvety opaque passages.”
Theresa has an amazing technique of capturing light in her watercolors. She is a graduate of Saint Peter's College, Jersey City, NJ and undertook graduate studies at the Academia di Belle Arti in Florence, Italy along with postgraduate work at the esteemed Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY. Her post-grad tutelage was further enhanced by an apprenticeship under Ferdinand Petrie at the Ridgewood Art Institute, Ridgewood,NJ
She has exhibited in many galleries throughout the New York Metropolitan area. Including the Allan Stone Gallery and the Salmagundi Club.
Theresa's artwork has been published by American Artist Magazine on the "Watercolor Page", and she was named one of twenty emerging water colorists across the nation by Watercolor Magazine in 2006. A former Second Vice President of the New Jersey Water Color Society, she has exhibited at The National Arts Club, NYC, with the Catharine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club, of Which she is an elected member. She has also exhibited with the Transparent Watercolor Society of America at the Bloomington Arts Center Minnesota.
Over fifty six of her watercolors have been published is a series of coffee table books titled "To The Shore Once More Vol I, II and II" and the "Long Beach Island Rhapsody" published by Jersey Shore Publications, Bay Head, NJ. These books are available here at our gallery.
